Just found a slight ticking sound when the bike is running, any ideas what that could be? And there is a slight leak in the tank, how could i block this hole? could i block this from the inside to save the paint job?

POR15 seal kit for the tank. Follow the instructions, correct cleaning procedure etc etc....

As for the ticking, is it high up, low down? Hear it more on one side of the engine than the other? Cold/ warm? changes? Need some more info!

ditto on the POR15 kit, you'd struggle to get a non rusty 400 tank so may as well sort yours. Make sure you get the full kit (circa £40) not just the sealer.

Similar situation here.
As per the tank,
I d suggest also new seals for the tank cap
and tankerite.
There are two types, one basically is coating the full interior of the tank, the other one is much thicker and it can also seal small holes.

As per the ticking, mine is high tone distinct noise at about 1Hz in idle.
It seems to be near the carbs/ head.
