I had one on my tl1000s race bike, as if you change down to 1st at any speed on a TL the rear wheel locks solid, so I fitted a similar one to what you have, but it didn't react quickly enough so you were never sure which gear you were in dontknow dontknow dontknow

Id save the £15 and learn to count from 1 to 6 and back again

thanks for the replies guys. i can count from 1 to 6 when  needed but as the post states its just for the sake of having 1 fitted. also as someone has already said its only  a few quid so if it works it works.

Put a post on here when you have fitted it. I like the idea of one of these. Bit of a gimick but like you say for £15 its cheap enough.

If the mk1 has a similar neutral sensor to a mk2 you can make your own by modifying the sensor and adding leds!

I just made a 6th gear indicator to stop me going for the elusive 7th gear!

Fair enough! I think mine cost me about 3 quid, but easily another 12 in bother :p

And it does look great and and subtle, never know it's there unless you ride it

I remember that GSX400FW used to have that. I had that bike back in 1993 and I clearly remember that, maybe we can install that on a mk1
It was an LCD display showing the gear with numbers 1,2 etc...
Once I show that I gave up school Tongue:):D

well guys gear indicator came and is now fitted to my mk1. i didnt need to learn to count again after all from 1 to 6 and back down again as this we item for £15 does it all for me. as for the fitting of it i must say the 2 sensors that came with the kit  need placed at 1 just above the gear lever and 1 below where a bit of a pain to get in the right place. the wiring was straight forward enough as i have a manual i just checked the wiring codes for the neutral light wire to connect to. the neutral light wire  on mine is a blue wire on the left side of bike just beside battery to connect the white wire from kit  into. the switched positive connection i made from a orange wire at front behind headlight . as for the earth well that was straight forward. as for the rest of the wires they just connect to the 2 sensors.  hope this helps anyone else that wants to fit one if like me cant count to 1 to 6 lol . ps i did have to get stronger bigger magnets as the small magnet that came with it was far far to small.
