Unclepoo and rdurider, thanks for the information!  I thought as much regarding the barb fitting, but one never knows unless one asks.  I'm sure the on/off handle issue isn't terribly convenient, but as you pointed out, Unclepoo, removing and replacing the tank will be a much less juggly affair - a definite plus.  Rdurider, I would love to go the Pingel route, but they are a bit spendy for us at the moment.  I keep seeing the inexpensive manual shutoffs on eBay and have always wondered how they would work for our application.  And now I know!  Thank you again for your help, gents - you are most kind!  Safe riding and happy days to all!

I forgot to say.....the vacuum pipe that runs to the original fuel tap needs to be blocked, I screwed a M6 bolt into it, easy to remove to balance the carbs etc.

Unclepoo - I thought as much regarding the potential vacuum leak, but thanks for mentioning it, nonetheless.  Though I'm a maintenance mechanic by trade, I'm still shocked at how "mechanically declined" I can be at times, lol.  Thanks again.   Smiley

I have a 2004 GSF1200S Bandit and she's now 10 years old with 39'000 kms on the odometer and the stupid vaccum activated petcock leaks fuel no matter what position it's in (On, Res or PRI).

I took it apart and put it back together and inititially I thought it was okay but it started pissing fuel again.

Has anyone tried out one of these (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271062260885?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)?
I don't wanna have to shell out the $161.67 USF for the PINGEL set up, and have to deal with getting gouged on brokerage fee's and also taking a hit having it shipped to Canada and paying the exchange rate as well.

I am SUPER FRUSTRATED!!!

I know some guys have used something like that, but personally I wouldn't buy one in case I forget to turn it to the "off" position when I stop the engine and fuel find its way into my engine. Even though the float valves should not let the fuel overflow and find its way into the engine in the "on" position...it's been well documented that it does happen a lot.

Also, I do a fair bit of stop/starts and would on average be turning the dial to the "off" position about 10 times a day.  That would be a major pain in the arse for me for just trying to save a few bucks.   icon_rolleyes

I see plenty of kits available to repair your tap, or plenty of new and secondhand B12 petcocks on ebay at reasonable prices. These kinda things happen after that length of time. I had a petcock go on a B6 before, and it was far from a frustrating or costly experience getting one from the UK to Ireland. Perhaps it's your Canadian Government's high taxes on imports that's making your experience a super frustrating one? dontknow

I used one of these  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PIT-DIRT-BIKE-PETROL-FUEL-TAP-ON-OFF-SWITCH-RESERVE-110cc-125cc-140cc-200cc-/400522460815?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5d40ffbe8f
I take your point about shutting fuel off...but at least you know off, is off. With an old vac tap, you don`t know what its doing. I tried a repair kit for the original tap but it leaked worse than before...and I`m from the days when bikes had proper fuel taps that had to be turn off manualy, so its not a problem for me.

Okay,
so I spent $40.00 and bought a petcock rebuild kit.
Put it all together with the new parts and it still just pisses gas out no matter wether it is in the ON or RESERVE position (and of course it flows fully when it is set on the PRI setting).

I tried doing it twice and no matter what it leaks fuel.

Last day of May, and I can't ride my streetbike.

I just want an ON, OFF, RESERVE petcock but can't seem to find one for my Canadian spec 2004 GSF1200S Bandit.

I tried to open up that EBAY post but it said,"No longer posted as the seller has sold it."

I did find a ON,OF,RESERVE petcock listing on ebay but it sad that it was only compatible for 1996-2000 model year.

Really?

And I'd much rather buy something on this side of the pond (Edmonton Alberta Canada) vs from the UK.

I just bought a pingel today. It was $142 shipped. They do list the part number on their website, however you have to enter it in "quick order" to purchase it.
