I'm no expert but I'd guess so too. If its just running rich did he suggest anything like adjusting pilot screw or re jetting or something? If they were fine before he probably put the pilot screws randomly maybe?

We'll this guy is meant to be the best in my area ? He told me to look out for a new set of carbs ? But I'm a logical thinker ant can't see why mine are not repairable in some way as all parts on a carb seem to be replaceable ?

I've always had white smoke when i start my bike, never really worried about it, just imagined it was normal. It's not loads of smoke but a noticeable amount. As you rev, more smoke comes out. Is this normal for cold starts?

I'll also add that once the bike is warm the smoke completely clears and the bike runs smooth although when cold (and i think i take the choke off to early sometimes) it doesn't rev as freely.

As i said above, I wasn't really bothered about it until a friend said it could be a concern.

Edit: I'll post a video shortly.

Well i just went to record a video and the bike started without choke and isn't smoking, so i'll probably have to post a video tomorrow morning when it's a bit colder.

If it was water cooled you might have something to worry about but I don't think it can be much to be concerned about as it's oil cooled (I'm taking it that we're talking about a mk2 600), if it's a water cooled and it's not loosing water it'll be condensation  notworthy

Hot gases meet cold air, same as condensation when you breath
Ifnits got a slight blue tint to it then id be worried

Its a very serious issue you have there. White smoke and mates don't mix well.

Suggest your mate seeks immediate attention to his knowledge of engines.

Ride and enjoy.

Perfectly normal for this time of year, as the bike warms up, the smoke/steam should stop.

Here's the video: http://s789.photobucket.com/user/AzAndBikes/media/banditsmoke_zpsafe107c7.mp4.html

The smoke isn't as thick as it looks in the video (crap camera)

Thanks for all the quick replies too Smiley
