Just a query on the rear wheel axle thread size is labelled M18 (1.5)
The socket required to undo this nut is 36mm, can you please explain
the differences?
cheers arbee
Footnote : I just realised those figures are for the 1200 Bandit
and are not for the 1250 Bandit...
M18 is the diameter of the threaded bolt or in this case wheel axle, you cant use an 18mm socket on the nut cause it would have to be wafer thin (i.e. the nut would be the same size as the bolt).
Metric spanners relate to the gap between the jaws in mm and therefore
equate to the dimension across the flats of the nut.
I know a standard size M18 nut would usually take a 27mm socket at 2.00 pitch, but because of the stresses on the axle and nut they made the nut more bulkier and with a fine pitch thread of 1.5 to make sure your wheel doesn't work loose.
I think that about covers it, maybe someone else can explain it better than me?
